Jeffrey Epstein: Quick Reference Guide
Just the facts and a timeline of the Jeffrey Epstein saga.
Early Criminal Activity
• 2005: Multiple underage girls report sexual abuse at Epstein's Palm Beach mansion • 2006–2008: Federal investigation targets sex trafficking of minors
The Controversial Deal (2005–2008)
• March 2005: 14-year-old reports abuse; Palm Beach police begin investigation • 2006: Police identify ~40 victims and uncover Epstein's "sexual pyramid scheme" • May 2006: Grand jury (convened by state prosecutor) returns only 1 misdemeanor charge • 2006–2008: FBI drafts federal indictment based on trafficking evidence
The Secret Non-Prosecution Agreement (NPA)
• Negotiated by: U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta and Epstein's legal team (Dershowitz, Ken Starr, others) • Federal charges dropped: Avoided sex trafficking prosecution (which carried decades in prison) • Immunity granted: Extended to Epstein and unnamed co-conspirators • Victims excluded: Secret deal concealed from victims and the public • Final plea: Two state-level prostitution charges only
The Lenient Sentence
• 18 months in county jail (not federal or state prison) • Work release: Allowed 12 hours/day, 6 days/week at private office • Time served: Just 13 months, released in 2009 • Post-release: Registered sex offender; one year probation
Federal Prosecution Returns
• 2015: Victims sue, citing NPA's violation of their rights • November 2018: Miami Herald publishes "Perversion of Justice," exposing decade-long cover-up • February 2019: Federal judge rules NPA unlawful but unenforceable • July 2019: Acosta resigns as Trump's Labor Secretary
The 2019 Case and Death
• July 6, 2019: Epstein arrested on federal sex trafficking charges in NY and FL • August 10, 2019: Found dead in Manhattan jail—ruled suicide • August 29, 2019: Charges dismissed due to Epstein's death
Associate Prosecutions
• July 2020: Ghislaine Maxwell arrested in New Hampshire • December 2021: Convicted on 5 federal counts of sex trafficking • June 2022: Sentenced to 20 years in prison • 2020–2021: Victim compensation fund pays $121 million to 150+ claimants
Trump-Era Politics (2025)
• February 2025: AG Pam Bondi claims a "client list is sitting on my desk" • Distributes "Epstein Files: Phase 1" binders to MAGA-aligned influencers • Move catches White House officials off guard • Files contain no new material—only previously public documents
The Final Reversal
• July 7, 2025: Trump's DOJ/FBI memo concludes:
No "client list" exists
No evidence of a blackmail scheme
Death ruled a suicide
No further prosecutions expected • July 8–13, 2025: MAGA base erupts in fury; accuses DOJ of cover-up; calls for Bondi's resignation • Memo contradicts Bondi's prior promises, triggering an unprecedented rift within Trump's base • Trump defends Bondi and urges press to "move on" from Epstein
Key Numbers
• 250+ underage girls reportedly victimized • 1,000+ victims identified across all investigations • 1,000+ names in Epstein's contact book • $121 million distributed through compensation fund • 20 years: Maxwell's prison sentence
Trump's DOJ may deny a client list exists—but the scale of Epstein's crimes, and the suffering of hundreds of girls, is a matter of public record.
More from Anchor Light Publications:
There are earlier stories.
There are documentaries on Epstein and separately on Ghilaine.
Stories are told of young teenagers reporting to police and essentially being ignored. Let's recall that back then there was much less data sharing between different bureaus.
Please look for those documentaries (I believe I saw them on Netflix by I no longer use it).
Thanks
I’m early releasing an article from my new newsletter that drops tomorrow morning. By all means REPOST this and keep the momentum going. And take a moment to look around the publication and free subscribe.
